Happy New Year! Welcome to season two of The Ambient Meditations Podcast, and hopefully, after all this craziness, things will start looking up as we get into 2021. To kick off the new year, we have one of our favorite indie bands, The Notwist, who have a new album, Vertigo Days coming out on January 29th. We got the chance to catch up with Markus Acher to talk about the album, the year gone by, and their mix for AM. The Notwist drift between soft indie rock to experimental electronic music effortlessly, never able to be truly defined in one way or another. This mix is a testament to that, and we hope you love its quirkiness as much as we do.
For episode 28, we are changing up the format a bit with both a mix and a separate interview. Our guest mix is from the Dutch composer Rutger Hodemaekers to celebrate the release of his new album The Age of Oddities which came out on FatCat’s 130701 imprint on November 6th. Hodemaekers takes you on a cinematic journey all his own, perfect for long walks in nature or sitting in front of a fire. We also catch up with Nils Frahm for an interview to talk about his new live album Tripping With Nils Frahm, which was edited and perfected from multiple performances in his home town of Berlin at the Funkhaus, which is also the home to his recording studio. Along with the interview, there will be a few selections from the new album. We will be experimenting with the show’s format in the episodes ahead, so please send any feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to hear from you.
sehr sehr lecker.
This week we are presenting an exclusive mix by the legendary Austrian duo of Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, also know as K&D or Kruder & Dorfmeister. Twenty-two years ago, the two parted ways to pursue other projects, Peter with Peace Orchestra and Richard with Tosca, both phenomenal in their own rights, but there was that K&D secret sauce missing. Now we finally have a new album from the kings of dubby, beat drizzled, smokey downtempo, and it’s out on November 13th, just in time for the long hard winter ahead. They have done a lovely laid back mix for AM 24 with some gems that will surely delight and have you hitting the play button more than once. Welcome back gentleman, the world of electronic music has missed you deeply.
